Postdoctoral position in the area of thin film deposition and surface modification for applications in water electrolysis

The COCOON research group is involved in thin film materials research within a context of applications relevant to society. We focus on (1) Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) for conformal coating and surface modification of 3D nanostructures, (2) ‘in situ’ characterization for fast screening of the annealing behavior of thin film materials, and (3) combinatorial thin film deposition for fast screening of compositional libraries. We are well equipped for vacuum-based thin film deposition (PVD, ALD, MLD) and have constructed a vacuum cluster tool with integrated glovebox for ‘surface science’ that enables thin film deposition, electrochemical characterization and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy characterization, all without air exposure. To strengthen our research on the design of electrocatalysts by ALD, we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in electrochemical measurement and analysis approaches for catalyst development.

Job description

-          You will develop and characterize ALD coatings and surface modification strategies for water electrolysis applications in the frame of a collaborative fundamental research project.

-          You will part-time be involved in collaborative projects with the industry.

-          You will have the opportunity to supervise PhD students.

-          We offer you a one year position which can be prolonged to maximum three years depending on performance.
