Medical service

The university medical service for students is located at Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat 25, 9000 Gent (Tel.: 09 264 70 20).

COVID info:
After a high-risk contact or in case of mild symptoms, students can get tested for free (when heaving a BIS number and a Belgian insurance) in the test center of the UZ Ghent.

With a travel insurance / foreign insurance, the patient pays for the test (€50) but a proof of payment is given to recover the costs.
Attention: for a test after a high-risk contact, you need a CTPC-code. You can request this by calling the contact tracing in Brussels on 02/214 19 19


Online appointments can be made again with the medical service for non-Corona-related complaints.
Temporary there will be NO open consultation from 5-7 pm, the doctors are working on appointment only.
The appointments are spread sufficiently so that they can take place in safe conditions.

Need urgent medical help at night, in weekends or on holidays?

  • At night (7 pm to 8 am)
  • In weekends (from Friday 7 pm to Monday 8 am)
  • Bank holidays (from evening from 7 pm to 8 am day after)


The practice is closed:

  • Between Christmas and New Year
  • During the Gentse Feesten

During these periods, one can contact the student physician only for urgent matters (via 09 264 70 20).

In other holidays:

  • You can make an appointment via the online diary.
  • There are no evening consultations during Christmas and Easter holidays nor in July and August.
