Maxime Vandenberghe


Maxime Vandenberghe is a PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science at Ghent University. He holds a master’s degree in Political Science - Belgian politics (2018, Ghent University). His main research interests are federalism, ethno-territorial politics, and party politics, with a particular focus on Belgium. Maxime currently prepares a PhD dissertation (FWO; 2019-2023) in which he combines these topics. Building on the literature on divided societies, consociationalism, federalism, and party politics, the goal of the study is to map the evolution of the communal conflict in Belgian politics and to explain its prevalence.
