Medieval Seminar Series' lecture by Dr. Yannis Hadjinicolaou (University of Hamburg)

On Wednesday 18th May 2022 (16.00 CEST), the Pirenne Institute has the pleasure of hosting Dr. Yannis Hadjinicolaou (University of Hamburg) in Ghent for an art-historical lecture on 'The Ruler in Action. Falconry, Training and the Body'.

Dr. Yannis Hadjinicolaou (Ph.D., 2014, Freie Universität Berlin,) is a research associate at the international research project “Bilderfahrzeuge. Aby Warburg´s Legacy and the Future of Iconology”, Warburg-Haus/Institute of Art History, University of Hamburg. His monograph “Thinking Bodies-Shaping Hands. Handeling in Art and Theory of the Late Rembrandtists” was published in 2019 by Brill: Leiden/Boston (Studies in Netherlandish Art and Cultural History, 15). He has published four edited volumes and numerous articles on art and art theory of the early modern period, the political iconology of falconry, materiality, and the theory and history of art history as well as antagonism and synagonism in the visual arts. His book on “The Visual Power of Medieval Falconry” is under contract with Reaktion Books (London) and is expected to be published in 2023.

The lecture will take place at the Ghent University Blandijn building (2nd floor, room 2.2.1), Wednesday 18th May at 16.00 CEST. It is part of the Medieval Seminar Series of the Henri Pirenne Institute for Medieval Studies at Ghent University. All welcome, but please register with Stefan.Meysman@UGent.be
