Content information

Starting level:
No prior knowledge of French is required.
Please note that course participants of French level 1 are students who are not native speakers of Dutch. The supporting language used in class is English.


  • Listening skills: short dialogues enable you to recognise familiar words and basic sentences. At the end of the course you will understand French when spoken slowly and well articulated.
  • Speaking skills: you are gradually acquainted with the pronunciation of French. At the end of the course you can form short and simple sentences. You can also ask questions about very familiar issues and answer them.
  • Reading skills: you learn how to read short and simple texts.
  • Writing skills: at the end of the course you are able to write a short and simple letter. You are also able to fill out forms with personal information.
