Note taking

Content information

Starting level:
Native speakers of Dutch or level of Dutch B2 (Common European Framework).

This course will teach you to take minutes efficiently during a meeting, so that you can quickly write a clear report afterwards.

Most minute takers proceed intuitively: they try to summarise the different points of a meeting as well as possible. Nevertheless, taking minutes is not always that simple: a good report is well structured and accessible, but also concise. In addition, objectivity and accuracy are important quality requirements. By means of a number of practical exercises, we will introduce the basic principles of a clear report: we will teach you how you can select the right type of report for a particular situation and a particular audience. Next, we will analyze your own past reports in class and you will receive tips to improve and refine them. Finally, you will take the minutes of a recorded meeting. You will then discuss the different options in small groups in order to achieve structured and readable minutes.
