Development of a bioink based on alginate and bioactive glass for bone tissue engineering

About this line of research

Bioactive glasses (BAG) with different compositions are synthesized and combined with (methacrylate modified) alginate hydrogels to create bioinks for bone tissue engineering.

The effect of the composition and content of BAG on the printability, mechanical properties, biocompatibility and differentiating potential of the bioink is investigated. Methacrylated gelatin and alginate hydrogels are synthesized in collaboration with the PBM group. Single cells or spheroids are either seeded on top of or incorporated into printed scaffolds.
