Neurogenetics Lab

Research interests

  • Discovery of novel disease genes, variants and pathways implicated in rare inherited neurological disorders (RNDs) including movement disorders, ataxia, spastic paraplegia, leukodystrophies and dementia
  • Increase diagnostic accuracy and speed for undiagnosed RND patients in collaboration with the Neurogenetics Clinic in the Center for Medical Genetics Ghent and the Program for Undiagnosed Rare Disorders (PrOZA)
  • Functional modeling of novel variants and genes by combining molecular, clinical, single cell and multi-omics approaches and the use of Drosophila, zebrafish and human iPSC-derived neuronal cultures
