International Support Team

The International Support Team (IST) is part of the International Relations office of Ghent University located in Het Pand. We are a team of 5 university staff members: Benedicte, Greet, Karen, Maaike and Rachida.

What we do

  • Being students first point of contact for help and guidance regarding a range of administrative and wellbeing issues and offering advice and support. If necessary, we direct international students to other Ghent University departments they might need
  • Answering questions and concerns of incoming and outgoing exchange students and guiding them through our application procedures
  • Drawing up the inter-institutional agreements with partner institutions
  • Helping students (bachelor or master degree) who need to prove sufficient means of subsistence in the framework of their visa or residence permit application
  • Guiding staff members or students who participate in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme through the process
  • Arranging exemption of the APS certificate for Chinese students
  • Organizing arrival and welcome activities at the start of each semester

How we can help

  • The IST aims to help you get the very best out of your international experience
  • We want to be your first stop for information, advice and support before your arrival as well as throughout your time at Ghent University or abroad
