University Education Quality

All Flemish universities and universities of applied sciences are periodically assessed in an institutional review conducted by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). The institutional review examines whether the institution pursues an education policy of high quality, including the direction it takes to guarantee the quality of its programmes.

Institutional Review 2022

In the autumn of 2022, the next institutional review will take place at Ghent University. In this period, an internationally composed committee will pay two site visits to Ghent University: 1) an exploratory site visit on 11 October 2022 which will focus on getting to know the institution thoroughly and 2) an in-depth site visit from 12 to 14 December 2022 in which the committee will examine the implementation of the education policy and quality assurance within the institution.

An important part of the institutional review is the Critical Reflection. Each institution has to submit a Critical Reflection to NVAO at least six weeks before the exploratory site visit by the committee. For Ghent University, the submission date is set for 15 July 2022. You can consult the document here.

Institutional Review 2016

On 11 September 2017, Ghent University received the institutional review’s positive assessment results.
