A lively debate on global 21st century challenges in the pharmaceutical sector with Ajit Shetty, Dimitri Eynikel, Marleen Temmerman and Koen Schoors.

The panel members in this debate are Ajit baron Shetty (Janssen Pharmaceutica), Dimitri Eynikel (Doctors Without Borders), Marleen Temmerman (UGent) and Koen Schoors (UGent).

The following key questions will be addressed.

  • Does the world have the medicines it needs?
  • How are choices made for R&D and marketing of medicines?
  • Can we provide affordable medicines for an aging population?
  • Can we provide sufficient and affordable high-quality medicines in developing countries?
  • Is the relationship between prosperity for society and profit in the pharmaceutical sector in balance?

Global needs will be discussed from a scientific, economic, cultural, and ethical framework.
