On February 24th, Prof Stefan Listl will give a lecture on the relevance of oral health, its system failures and approaches for problem-solving.

This lecture is part of the IMHSeminars. Guest speaker: prof Stefan Listl

Oral diseases and conditions affect over 3.5 billion people worldwide and particularly affect poorer and marginalized groups. They are the 3rd most expensive diseases to treat in the EU and many EU citizens do not have access to quality oral care. For those who do not have access to affordable oral care, this poses serious safety threats as the exacerbation of oral diseases can lead to infections, emergency hospital admissions, or even death. Despite vast and multilateral damage to individuals and society, a low sense of urgency and a serious lack of synergistic problem solving persist. To this end, this talk will: (1) Explain the relevance of oral health for people’s general health and wellbeing; (2) Decipher the root causes of current oral health system failures; (3) Delineate approaches for synergistic problem-solving.
