The role of eosinophils in rheumatoid arthritis will be addressed. Aline Bozec (University Hospital Erlangen and Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg) is our guest speaker.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints, leading to cartilage destruction and bone erosion. Nowadays DMARDs can slow the progression of RA but are unable to fully resolve the disease. The influence of innate immune cells like dendritic cells, mast cells and macrophages on the onset of RA has been well characterized.

Here we will delineate the role of the granulocyte eosinophils as new factors in resolution of inflammatory arthritis.
