Specific course requirements

The course is organized rather differently from traditional courses. The course consists of traditional lectures but also of tutorials, supervisions and company visits.

You are required to be present during all lectures, tutorials, supervisions and company visits.                                                                                                         If you are absent without a valid reason, you cannot pass this course.

If you do have a valid reason you should inform well in advance.   Please notify the discussion leader, the lecturer and the pedagogic teaching staff of your absence.


Since active participation is required, this implies the following:

  • Register this subject on Ufora before the start of the second semester.  If you fail to do so, you will not be assigned to a group for assignments and you cannot pass this course.
  • Be present and actively participate in all the lectures and tutorials
  • Regularly check the announcements on Ufora


Active participation by all students is required and all students are expected to work on different assignments:

  • the traditional lectures will give you the basic theoretical knowledge.
  • next to the lectures, we will work in a problem based manner about topics in the central themes welfare state and well-being. During the tutorial meetings you will work through a specific method in which you will learn to absorb the course material in an active manner.
  • supervisions will improve your social and communicative skills.


As the evaluation of the course consists of 60% continuous assessment, you will have several tasks and preparations during the semester.
