Sarah Van Hoof has been assistant professor of Dutch and Multilingual Communication at Ghent University since October 2015. Previously she was a PhD fellow of the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO) at the University of Antwerp. In 2013 she defended her dissertation on language policy and linguistic practices in comedy and drama on the Flemish national channel. Between 2013 and 2015 she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan at the University of Oslo (Norway). Her research interests are situated in the domains of sociolinguistics and discourse analysis. Her work focuses on language ideology and language politics in postwar and contemporary Flanders, language policies and linguistic practices in public institutions and the role of language in the employment of migrant job seekers.
