Dr. Ilse Ruyssen is assistant professor at the Department of Economics (Ghent University) where she is involved in several courses in international economics. She obtained her PhD in Economic Sciences from Ghent University in 2013 after which she spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at IRES (Université Catholique de Louvain) and Ghent University. Her main research interests lie in the driving forces behind internal and international migration and migrant’s location choice, with a particular focus on the role of conflict, climate change and network effects, as well as the consequences of international migration and migration policy. As of 2015, Ilse is coordinator of the interdisciplinary Migration Working Group at Ghent University and she is involved in several research projects concerning the economics of international migration. She also has affiliations with the United Nations University - CRIS (as Associate Project Leader) and with IRES (as Research Fellow).
