Studied Romance Philology at Ghent University and was granted a PhD in Linguistics from that same university in 2002. Worked at the College of Europe as a teaching assistant, at Ghent University as a researcher and senior researcher. Was appointed Visiting Lecturer at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (2004-2009). Is currently an Associate Professor at Ghent University for interpreting and legal translation and a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe for French and EU terminology. His research interests are situated in the area of translation and interpreting studies, focussing on cognitive, sociocognitive and pragmatic properties of interpretation and translation.
