Nutritious, safe and sustainable seafood for consumers of tomorrow

SEAFOODTOMORROW aims to boost the European seafood chain.

Seafood is widely recognized as nutritious, safe and high quality food. However, the majority of the European population, especially children, young adults and elderly, fail to meet the dietary recommendations of eating two portions of fish per week, of which one should be fatty fish. On the other hand, the European seafood chain is currently underprepared to cope with the demands of consumers, since majority of seafood products are nowadays imported from elsewhere.

SEAFOODTOMORROW – an EU-project granted within the framework of Horizon 2020 – aims to boost the European seafood chain by diversifying seafood production, improving existing seafood resources and developing innovative cost-effective and environmental-friendly seafood processing technologies and tailor-made seafood products.

This way, the sector’s resilience to perceived threats can be enhanced, and business opportunities in seafood production and processing sectors become more accessible.
